Getting Back Up, Again and Again

"A few years ago, my life changed forever after a very serious accident. There were moments of silence, of fear, and days when it felt hard to find hope. Rebuilding yourself after something like that doesn’t happen overnight; it’s a slow journey, made of small steps, patience, and a deep faith in life.

In the midst of that process, Grupie was always there. Without saying a word, with his calm gaze and constant presence, he became one of those quiet supports that hold you up when everything feels like it’s falling apart. Many times, on the hardest days, he was simply there. And that was enough.

Last year, life tested him too. Suddenly, he lost the mobility in his back legs. Seeing him like that was hard. But we chose not to give up. With his little wheelchair, he went back out with me—feeling the wind, going for walks, continuing to discover the world in his own way.

Today I understand that our story is, at its heart, a story of shared learning. Just as he was there for me when I was learning how to live again, now his courage reminds me of something both simple and profound: that even when life changes our steps, we can always find new ways to move forward.

Grupie may walk differently now. I do too. But we’re still here, trying to live each day with love.

And that, more often than not, is what it means to stand up again."
